Monterey Photo Diary Part 6: Pebble Beach in BW

I bought my first ND filter before this trip. Shooting on a beach with sand and salt, the lenses/filters get dirty pretty easily. I made the mistake of using cleaning solution on this filter. I nearly flipped out because it left a very noticeable filmy residue that would not wipe off. The filter also came with a warning label not to use cleaning solution which was naively overlooked. Luckily, despite my careless mistake, the photos turned out normal as you see here. I was worried my photos would be completely ruined and I would have to replace the filter which was not cheap. So if you ever wonder if a filter can recover from rookie mistakes, it can! This was my first long exposure experiment during the day time and I’m quite excited!
